FRANK LANG, JR. M.D. Chief Medical Officer Medical Director WSMC |
Frank Lang Jr. MD Dr. Lang is the Chief Medical Officer/Medical
Director of WSMC. He grew up in Downieville graduating from
Downieville High School. Dr. Lang is also a graduate of Santa Clara
University and the University of California San Francisco, School of
Medicine. His professional focus is on all ages and aspects of
Primary Care as a Family Physician. He has special experience in HIV
medicine and Homeless Health Care.
When not practicing Medicine, Dr. Lang is often found playing jazz flute,
riding his mountain bike or back-country skiing. |

Frank Lang, NP,EJD - Frank graduated with a BS in Nursing from the
University of Northern Colorado; MS Nurse Practitioner, University of
Colorado; FNP, University of California, Davis, School of Medicine;
Radiologic Technologist, University of California, Berkeley; Executive Juris
Doctorate, Health Law, Concord University School of Law. Frank is Board
Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the ANCC. He is also certified
in both Pediatric and Adult Advanced Life Support by the American Heart
Association. He is certified as a CPR and First Aid Instructor by the
American Red Cross. He holds a California Lifetime Teaching Credential
and teaches EMT Courses for western Sierra County. He is certified as a
MICN by Northern California EMS. He is Medical Consultant to the Sierra
County Superior Court, Drug Court. |
 LYNN JAKOBS, N.P. |
Lynn Jakobs, Nurse Practitioner - Lynn has worked at the Western
Sierra Medical Clinic for eleven years. Lynn provides primary care
treatment for men, women and children of all ages. She hold an
X-Ray license and interfaces with Downieville Ambulance Service as a
mobile intensive care nurse. She is ACLS and PALS certified. She
holds a Masters Degree from California State University-Sacramento
and is a 1997 graduate of the University of California-Davis School of
Medicine Family Nurse Practitioner Program. She will be entering a
doctorate program in Spring of 2008. |
 LORA LEE GRUTKOWSKI FNP |
Lora Lee Grutkowski is a graduate of Sonoma State University’s
post-masters’ Family Nurse Practitioner program. She has worked for over 30 years as a nurse, and has
extensive experience in the field of nursing. Since 2003 she has been self-employed as a Clinical Nurse
Specialist providing Assistant at Surgery services in the Operating Room. She received her master of
science in nursing degree from Case Western Reserve University the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing
as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in advanced practice Medical Surgical Nursing. She is board certified by
the American Nurse’s Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Clinical Nurse
Specialist in Adult Health (ACNS-BC). She also holds board certification by the Competency and
Credentialing Institute as a Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) and Certified Operating
Room Nurse (CNOR).

 MICHAEL ASKINS, PhD |
Michael Askins, PhD, has a private practice in Grass Valley
and has lived in Nevada City since 1976. He did undergraduate work at UCLA and received
his doctorate in clinical psychology from Allient University in Los Angeles.
He enjoys seeing patients of all ages including children and families. Michael hosts the monthly
Men’s Talk Show on KVMR addressing a variety of men’s issues.

 BETTE JO LANG, R.N. |
Bette Jo Lang, R.N. Bette Jo has been with WSMC for 32 years. She is a graduate from St.
Cloud Hospital School of Nursing and received her Associate of Science degree from Ohio
University. Mrs. Lang is actively involved in teaching community health education programs.
Along with her responsibilities assisting patients, Bette Jo manages the comprehensive on-
going development and implementation of policies and programs that ensure the highest
quality of medical and dental care.

 CHRISTY LANG PT, MPT, DPT |
Christy Lang, PT,MPT,DPT - Christy graduated from the University of North Dakota (UND) in
1995 with a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy. She then completed a transitional
doctorate program through UND in 2005. Christy has worked in diverse settings including in
patient rehab, acute care, out patient, in-home care, and skilled nursing. She has also been
department head for an assisted living facility as well as a rehab manager covering multiple
counties and two states. Christy says, "I've mostly worked in rural settings and I enjoy
geriatrics, fall prevention and vestibular rehab." The addition of physical therapy for our rural
community is a much needed service.

 DANIELLE YANTIS
|
Danielle Yantis - Danielle received her
Bachelor of Science in Nutrition Science at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo in 1991. She furthered
her education at San Jose State where she earned a Master of Science in Nutrition.
Her area of expertise is in geriatric nutrition of which most of her experience was
gained working in rehabilitation hospitals throughout the Bay Area. Much of her work
involved helping patients with swallowing difficulties, diabetes, cardiovascular disease
and kidney failure.
She has a special interest in food safety working with
the Santa Clara County Environmental Health Department on improving their food safety
inspections. Danielle also worked at Dominican Hospital Santa
Cruz, California.
Her last job, before having two beautiful children, was
at San Jose Unified School District - child nutrition program. She is delighted to be
back in her childhood town and hopes to give back to the community that gave her a start.
